- The Writing – Laini Taylor has a way with words. Her writing is beautiful and magical and just all together on a whole other level. I could not imagine anyone else trying to write this story.
- The Mystery – There is so much to unravel in this story that it is genuinely hard to put the book down sometimes. I just wanted to keep reading to learn more and find out the truth. And it seems like when something is revealed it only opens up to something bigger with more secrets behind it.
- The Characters – The characters in this book are fascinating and complex. They all have strong motivations for the decisions they make. I can see why they did what they did even if I don’t agree with them. There is no black and white in this story. It’s all gray. And the characters are not wholly good and not wholly bad. They are people doing what they believe is right and what is best.
I am currently reading the second book, Muse of Nightmares, and it is breaking me. It is SO GOOD! Sometimes I just want to cry while reading it because of how much I love it. Chapter 22 really got me. I sobbed hard, not out of love, but out of heartbreak.
